Jungle Jack is a 'full scale' 2D platform game much like
Disney's Lion King. The game is based on the Danish feature
cartoon Jungledyret Hugo (Jungle Jack) and the five game
levels are based on five sequences from the movie.

All animation in Jungle Jack was done by real classical animators with experience from (among others) several Don Bluth feature films as well as the Jungle Jack feature itself.

If you have a java compatible browser you will see an example to the left of this text.

All graphics including characters and backgrounds were initially drawn by hand.

The colors and finish were then added pixel by pixel using very basic 8-bit paint programs such as Deluxe Paint (PC) and
Brilliance (Amiga).

Every level in the game plus the end-of-game-sequence has it's own musical theme.
Two of these are new arrangements (for 8-bit FM sound) of themes from the film,
the rest are original compositions made exclusively for this game.

Jungle Jack was written for the PC in Standard C with low level routines in assembler,
and even though it's a DOS program it seems to run under Windows (3.1, 95 and NT)
as well. For music and sound effects it requires a SB16 compatible sound card.

The graphics are based on a
320 x 240, 256 color multi-layer (parallax) scroll utilizing the hardware features of the VGA card. The program also includes a variety of other VGA-specific effects.

It will run on anything from a 386 and upwards, but in order to really enjoy the game, a 486DX2 with Local Bus is recommended.

The Jungle Jack project was launched on April 1st and finished on schedule
on the 1st of November the same year. The actual production (concept, graphics
and code) was done by 7 people working around the clock for all 7 month. In addition
we had a few people taking care of music, sound effects and external production
tasks like CD-ROM cover design etc.

The game was produced for Per Holst Film, Denmark and released in a Danish-
Swedish-Norwegian-Finnish version. It has not yet been released outside Scandinavia
but hopefully it will be soon - The outside world shouldn't miss this very cute top quality
interactive-cartoon-like game.
